following on from the other thread. I wanted to put the idea of a track day forward, at Croft ?

Probably like others here I have a car that is a reasonable track car and it hasn't been out for a couple of years.
I am past wanting to race,( been there,done that,and it's to bl**dy expensive ) but would like to get the car out for some fun.
The normal track days where I am can involve mixing with ultra fast road cars which make it less enjoyable being in a mini.

So, is there interest in getting a bunch of minis to an organised track day.
Or is there one that you know of at Croft that some minis could join in with.
Or is Croft too expensive.

Is there any one here that's close to the circuit or knows how they work.

I say Croft circuit as it's central and I'm 200 miles north of it.

I could do croft, date dependant put me down.

HI. I did Croft last August Bank Holiday, booked through Bookatrack. The cost was £235.00, decibels 105. It sounds expensive but was open pit lane from 9-5. Will be doing it again this August, worth the money, very enjoyable.

As a matter of interest Oulton's about £130 through MSV for a full day, open pit lane, or £180 through Bookatrack.

The only way to do this would be to choose a convenient date and everybody book the same one or find a sympathetic club that does a block booking of their own at a particular circuit as happens at the less corporate venues like Croft ,Combe etc and offer to share ?

That track in Anglesey in North Wales is quite cheap I've heard, the old Mon airfield. Bikers,

I am only about 25 miles from Knockhill, I wouldn't think it's expensive compared to southern tracks.
I don't imagine many would travel for that.
Any other suggestions welcome.

angelsey is very good but is out of the way for some.

Outlon is very central for england, but not so good for those further north. MSV's prices are cheap!!

Iain, yeh well Knockhill is pretty far away from here too. But love to yump the corner yump on Knockhill up in the hills. A classic track.

I'd be up for Croft or Oulton, but Croft is a long way for even me in Lancashire. 6 hour round trip.
I've driven round Oulton but not at speed and have often wondered what it would be like flat out.

There are also other smaller tracks like 3 sisters which can be hired out.

I'd be up for Oulton...never done a trackday and would seem unfair of me to moan about something i've not done..lol

12 car rallies and autotests used to be cheap, very cheap.

You should consider it training for when you start competing!

That's how I imagine it towing a car. 1 hour + to Tebay and another 1 hour + to scotch corner. I've been up a few times for Jack Frost stages and some of the sprints and it always ends up taking ages (cruising at 75 - 80mph on a private road)

Well it looks like that's another idea kicked in to touch.
With all the people on here, and all the cars, only 3 show any interest in trying to get on a track for some fun and meet up.
Knockhill, I thought people wouldn't come north, so try down south, and still no interest or sugestions.

I'd be up for Knockhill Iain, but I don't have a Mini!
My pal would be up for it though I'm sure (the blue 1275 that was at the scottishmini one last year)

I don't think people can complain about the lack of events and then also say they're not prepared to travel 'beyond the end of their road'. You can't have it both ways these days, you're just fortunate if you get one on your doorstep and someone goes to the bother of organising it for you. Just make a weekend of it! Niall.
