Fancy MED rockers - What cover do you use?
I am running a set of the fancy MED roller rockers on my Hoosley;
My question is if anyone else is using these rockers what rocker cover are you using? I have tried the big Minispares alloy job & a standard pressed tin jobby, but the rockers clack about on both. They just seem a bit too big for the space available.
I have managed to get them to fit (just about) by using 2 x rocker cover gaskets, but I really don't like this bodge.
Any suggestions?

Ha, ha, ha!
Smart arse.
I do note that MED have changed their design since. So maybe the new ones fit OK.

Surely Mister Witton designed a bespoke rocker cover to go with his "smart" rockers?
He didn't....?

I think you are ment to use MED's own Rocker Cover
""This cover comes pre-machined for 1.5 rocker applications.""
http://www.med-engineering.co.uk/med-alloy-rocker-cover
I guess they just mention when using there rockers the rocker cover will need machining in the small print? lol
I've got some Swiftune / Titan rockers on my engine and the old MG metro rocker cover and the old Box alloy ones fit. I've got a couple spare i can bring to Blyton if you want to try them.

Re: Fancy MED rockers - What cover do you use?
i have 1.5 MED rockers but not the fancy bigger ones, mine fit fine under a standard tin rocker cover.
bet MED sell there own rocker cover that fits them perfect. ( then i read the post a few up and its already been said!!!!)
this could be a new thing for you to have made, silicon rocker cover gaskets that are twice as thick as standard. so you don't have problems with clearance and high lift rockers

I have the MED 1.5 roller rockers with there high torque cam in my engine with std steel rocker cover. But I fitted shims under the posts so that it takes into account the amount skimmed off the head.

This is the easiest answer

Why not use the top half of a B series cover and weld it to the A series with a lip? at least it will look somewhat original?

Re: Fancy MED rockers - What cover do you use?
I also found my new Titan rollers were very friendly with the Mspares alloy rocker cover so had a flycut applied to the inside back of the cover... This reduced the thickness of the rear part of the cover by a bit over half.... problem solved.
Coincidently I also have a silicon gasket.. but its much thinner than the standard type... It also works really well..and has so for years..
Cheers, Ian

I've got a set of MED 1.3's under a stock tin top, no issues at all.
