Was there ever any sealant applied to this join from new? Or was it just spotwelded along its length? Cheers

Just spot welded, can you imagine BMC doing something to prevent rust??

There was a sealant between the two on the outer (visible) side of the joint to prevent water getting between them - probably the same stuff as around the wing joints etc.

I agree with OEW, I have definitely picked a sort of white mastic out of this joint.

Hello!
3M Drip Check sealer was used between front wing/scuttle and outside on the drip rail to prevent water from entering as said by M.F

That's what I thought. I too remember picking it out of the join but wondered if it had been added later. Seems the 3M stuff is the way to go. Cheers all.
