What are the super stickiest commonly available tyres I can get?
Road and non-road legal.
For 4.5x10 100+ minilite replicas
wear longevity not important

Yokohama a032r are probably best easily available road tyre

Yokohama A032's are nice grooved slick type tyres, great on track and road legal too...

If your looking for a more period looking tyre then I've only got good things to say about the Avon CR6ZZ

+1 on the Avon's CR6ZZ . They are amazing tyres , very stiff sidewall and grip.
I get less understeer with them on 5x10" wheels than with Yoko's on 6x10".
Got a second hand set ( +- 5mm thread ) and after 2,5 hours of hard track day work, i've killed two tyres ( slicks now ) , other 2 should be fine for 1 hour more. Car is underpowered though.

Downside is price.

+1 for the Avons. They are superb, though are only good for around 6/7 laps before losing grip I find.

The Yokos perform better on track than I would have thought, but still not a patch on the Avons. I've only ever done 4 hot laps at a time on them so not sure how they last.

I was also impressed by Dunlop CR70s, though not road legal. Not sure what they're like price wise but they're narrow and had a really nice feel. Similar to a slick but with a nice bit of movement.

Have tried all sorts of psi but generally use 26 on the front and 28 on the rear. They obviously don't lose all grip, but there is a drop off. Might be down to all of the stupidly tight corners in Mondello!

26F and 28R? most people run the fronts higher than the rears. 4 psi difference for me.

CR70s nice feel? More like no feel, which is probably why they were very rarely used in F1 cars in their original design timespan.

Yes, but they only use them in the dry to stop CR65s melting.

So....further to the excellent advice I have received from this thread, I'm looking for a secondhand set (4-5) of either....

in 165/70-10 size

I just need them for one short event, so if you have a set you're planning to replace, you might as well let me subsidise your next set early, rather than just throw them away when they're totally shagged?

Was that race not run to HSCC rules, thus CR65 in 204 compound? BTW, never said they had no grip, just poor feel from over stable tread and thus bad breakaway for racing tyre.
