VCH 483
Anyone know this licence plate location? The picture would be from perhaps 1961-64.
That's my dad in the picture, he passed away last night and I'm just trying to put a location to the picture.
Thanks.
Would also be cool to know if that plate is still registered.

VCH 483 is not on the UK govt computer, either as an Austin or any other make (if transferred).
The computer system was introduced in 1983 IIRC, so perhaps the car was scrapped before that.
The VCH series was issued in Derbyshire in early 1961.

I cannot help you with your search for your Dad's registration as I'm from Ulster but interested as Saskatchewan Canada has large numbers of Ulster settlers.
May I extend to you and your family my most heartfelt sorrow and condolences for the lose of your Father.

VCH was actually a Derby C.B.C. number rather than Derbyshire and it was probably issued in February 1961.

VC was from Coventry C.B.C. hope this is of any help to you.

You need to examine the LAST two letters of three letter groups - in this case CH - which means Derby / shire.

Sorry to hear about you family loss Spitz ,as been said Derby/shire, if your dad bought the mini second hand then the location could be anywhere, but if sis was born Derby ,brother Birmingham and you Liverpool then it's in the midlands I guess.

OK...thanks all.
Derbyshire it most likely is (picture location). Still not checked with sis, but certain she was born there...and I'm fairly certain it was a brand new car being pampered

You need to examine the LAST two letters of three letter groups - in this case CH - which means Derby / shire.
CH does not mean Derby / shire. Derby CBC and Derbyshire CC are not the same in terms of vehicle registration numbers/licensing authorities and were completely separate.
In the 1960's Derby CBC (i.e. the city of Derby) had CH and RC as its index marks, Derbyshire had NU, R, RA, RB.
The Derby CBC licensing office was in Derby, the Derbyshire CC licensing office was in Matlock.
