997 Cooper gearbox
I'm restoring a 1962 997 Cooper but the original engine and gearbox are long gone. I got an old Gold Seal replacement engine to rebuild, and a nice set of B-type gears. The original gearbox case would have been a 22A363. Is it worth trying to find a 22A363 case to build the B-type gears into? Is that possible or wise? I think my mechanic has a 22G68 casing which would not be original, but would suit the B-type gears. Thanks for any advice!

Re: 997 Cooper gearbox
The 22G68 was introduced about a month after my car left the factory.

Re: 997 Cooper gearbox
It really depends how much the originality matters to you, I am restoring a mk2 cooper that should be 3 synchro, years ago I fitted a 4 synchro close ratio box to it and have no plans to change it. I really don't see it effecting the value of the finished car.
