5 bolt bumpers question

I have a question about 5 bolt bumpers.
How long have they been fitted to Minis ?
When was the change to 3 bolt ones.
Are all 5 bolt ones, original, or where 5 bolt reproduction ones made ?

A friend's 64 Countryman I looked at yesterday has holes for the 5 stud bumper

There were after market five mounting bumpers, but they use tags across the underside of the bumper so look quite different to a genuine one - at least on the underside.

I've just picked up a couple of new 'old stock' repro 5 bolt bumpers - manufactured as Simon says.
Different profile (larger radius) than the originals by the looks of it.

This seemed to be the “proper” topic to bring back to life!
I just purchased a set of 5-bolt bumpers (bottom in picture).
They do not have holes for corner bars.
Their profile is quite different when compared to my original 5-bolt bumper (1966 Austin Cooper S - top in picture).
- the corners are rounded with no sharp edges
- the bolts are mounted in a different manner
Can anyone provide info re: the timeline for the change in 5-bolt bumpers.

The bumper(s) you have purchased are the reproduction/aftermarket bumpers which Simon referred to in his post above. They are not an original fitment to any Mini.

Must have been after MK2 production ended...I have had two MK2 S's
and they were fitted with the original 5 bolt bumper.
So, question is..were the 3 bolt bumpers ever fitted as standard or were they just replacements?????

I am of the considered opinion that the 3 bolt bumpers are an after market replacement. I fitted a stainless steel pair on my 67 S some 3 - 4 years ago which look OK but found that I had use rubber insertion on the front at it was prone to vibrating noisily especially on tick-over.
Have retained the originals for possible re-chroming at some later date.

My original Innocenti bumpers look very similar with the same kind of bracket - so my best guess is that they are Innocenti

It is described as an Innocenti bumper.

I saw my first 3 bolt bumpers in the mid 70's when I was doing some work on my run-about 998 MSM130F and I am positive that they were Unipart, covered with that white stuck-on tape that was a bxxxxxd to get off. I feel that the 3 bolters were a means of cheapening production - by Leyland cans
