I had a sept '64 built 970 with optional Tank, oil cooler and 4.5's. The oil cooler was the vertical type.

Thanks Nev...that is exactly the same configuration of mine...was wondering if there were many 970's fitted with an oil cooler.
Cheers.

They must have been a real problem due to vibration. I have recently picked up two of the coolers and both are missing the ears. the steel plate is still attached. I'm wondering about cutting the mounting ears off some of the bashed oil coolers I have in the scrap bin and having them welded on. I'm not sure of the value as is or as repaired. Guess there is no reason to post for sale here as I don't know the real value/price to ask for. Steve (CTR)

I have a few repair sections for these coolers if you need them Steve. These coolers seem to go for silly money nowadays so could be worth repairing them.
