Hello,

Could someone shed some light on the best way to identify clutch and converter housings. I'm having a clear out but want to keep a couple.

Get a hold of a Gasket for a Manual Box to use as a template if you're unsure.

Thanks for the reply. I should have been clearer in my question. I want to identify early to late, or a series to a+, if there is much of a difference. I know bearing size changed, but anything else?

For the most part, in regards to the manual ones, it was only the Idler Gear Bearing that changed. The early ones for the 3 syncho boxes didn't have the cast on boss on top on to which the breather for some of the 1275 engines used, and the Metro Turbo ones had a bigger Outrigger Bearing.

'Adaptor' Bearings are available to use the A+ type covers with the A Type Idler Gears http://minispares.com/product/Classic/G ... o%20search just be sure to support the cover from the back before pressing these in as they are very tight.

If you are wanting to hang on to some for correct period restorations, some of the other guys may have some casting numbers to look for.

The really late ones have a "spy-hole" so that some kind of gizmo
can see the timing reluctor ring on the flywheel... This is actually a 1993 carb engine, but I am guessing that the case
was standardised with the injection engines at this time.

There's a verto clutch in here, if anyone wants it for a nominal sum,
please PM me. (Just the flywheel/clutch, not the whole "engine").
