Selector Fork and Baulk Ring Suppliers

Does anyone have any recommended suppliers of quality baulk rings and selector forks for a pre-rod change 4 synchro box?

Quality seems to vary on these parts significantly, and the last selector forks only lasted 3.5k miles :-(

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Andrew, I'm stripping the box tomorrow so I'll get back to you.

Thanks

I've been getting my Forks from Somerfords the past few years, I was getting them from Mini Spares before that, however it got to the point where every from them was out of spec, right out of the bag.

I was using Genuine Baulk Rings for a long time, however probably 1 in 30 were out of spec, otherwise they are good, I've recently swapped to Mini Spares ones and I must say, so far, so good, no complaints with them at all.

Hi Spider

How are you measuring whether they are in spec?
Are you assembling the box and measuring movement or measuring them beforehand?

Cheers

Simon

Hey Simon,

Before assembling. The factory book gives a figure of 0.015";-

"Change Speed Forks
The clearance between the running faces of the forks
and synchromesh assemblies should not exceed 0.015 in.
(.381 mm.)."

ALL that I have bought from MS in recent times were either at or over 0.015"

In the past I have just "pinched these in a bit" never had any issues.

I dismantled my box last night and found that both 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th forks were very worn, as a consequence it was starting to wear the 3rd gear baulk ring.

I'm sure looking at the selectors that this is the issue.

Thanks Spider, that's at least something that can be measured without assembling it. Wear in baulk rings, synchros etc always seems to be a bit more subjective!
