Hi all,

According to the following sites:
http://www.smithmaps.fsnet.co.uk/33ejbtext.htm
http://www.howardinstruments.com.au/page/halda/
"Under the magnifying glass was an early Halda tripmeter"

Tripmeter is use for commercial car (taxi?) and,
Halda Tripmaster and TwinMaster have being introduced in 1958/1960.

I'm wondering why BMC competition department use this Halda Tripmeter/Odometer on 33 EJB ?
(It's need to add magnifying glass and light for better viewing)
All other works minis equipped professional TwinMaster for rallying.

Have any expert can provide detailed construction of this tripmeter ?
(How to add magnifying len / light and, detailed dimension of bracket ?)

regards,
Kevin

Here's a photo of my Halda Tripmaster:

I only used it on a couple of events before deciding it was more decorative than useful. Its calibration is not set by changing cogs within the unit but by using the adjusting screw on the lower left corner of the front face - in a similar manner to calibrating a Halda Speedpilot. The resulting accuracy is about as good (or bad!) as that of a Speedpilot.

Having said that, I suspect that it was 'good enough' when used in 33 EJB on events where finding the correct route was more important than split second accuracy on a regularity section?

Hope that helps.

Peter

I have the Tripmeter that is same as yours and,
I would like to hand-make bracket/magnifying glass/lighting.
