poly windies

How well are these supposed to fit in a Mk1?

I received (a while back) a set of windies from a supplier for a Mk1...the quarterlight windies, I had to shave quite a bit off to fit in. For the door windies, I haven't touched at all, and just inserted. They seem quite loose and you can physically lift the windie 'in situ' 4-5 mm up and down. I'm using my original upper window channels, and sliding window catching lock runner, but replaced the lower sliding window runner.

I'm not too concerned, as it's on a rally car and therefore not exactly known for concours quality/finish...however, is it just me, or is this standard for poly windies?

By the way...quality is great and I can't believe how light these things are.

Thnks,
Ben

Theres 3 different sizes for the rear 1/4 windows - bolt in ones that use no rubber trim or frame, ones that fit in a rubber seal like an 850 and ones that fit in the chrome opening frame so you should have had the choice which ones you wanted - if you trying to put any of the first 2 in the frames you will have to take material off

the mini spares lower channels wont make to much of a difference so you shouldent really have that much movement in them, just measure them against a piece of glass

Aye Mark- well ive made one or two sets over the last 15 years or so - but there are always a few odd ball things that appear with minis which need adjusting, we even get surprised to this day with them.

But yea - they are light compared to glass - 50% lighter and cheaper than a diet

Got some special ones on my own car for Blyton - Anti-Scratch, Anti-fog and and solar control ;-) WRC slider kits fitted which arnt exactly period but hell - why not
