Are there differences between the boot-lid hinges for the various models?

I'm trying to mock-up a ligthened Mk2 bootlid using some hinges from a Mk4.... but they seem to "lift" up towards the rear screen.... ??

And yes, some models did indeed have a lightweight version. No, I'm not joking :)

I have in deed heard from a reputable source that these were altered during production, and possibly between mk3 and mk4, and modern ones look more "curvy" when the older are more angled. But I had never known before....

There are quite a few differences to boot lid hinges. The original ones for MK1/2 were more solid than any of the later type. You can identify them by checking the inside of them. They have small openings in the casting. The later ones were more hollow as less material was used on the casting. They also are numbered with a CZH part number. Obviously there are differences between left and right ones.
the MK3 ones had the rib on the upper part of the hinge running down over the middle, as the late MK4 and MK5 models were entirely smooth.
