Floor Start Single Box Exhaust

Post by gs.davies »

Seems that the pipe with the bend to clear the solenoid is no longer available and a couple of places seem to suggest a modification to the pipe. Any ideas what this might entail and is the modification easy enough to do to a standard and/or an RC40?

I am guessing that the "modification" involves a hammer.

I called Somerfords and asked - the 'modification' is to 'bend' the pipe, an extra twenty quid. Or the correct spec exhaust at £350+
Apparently the RC40 downpipes can't be bent via the same modification. Hmmm..

Maniflow supplied me with a short link pipe with a bend in it for £20 plus postage.

Ah, that's good to know - I do have a Maniflow that I could put onto it instead of the peashooter..

I picked up a new old stock one piece early exhaust on eBay so they are around, I did previously try to modify a new mini spares exhaust but it is not easy as the bracket on gearbox is no good on later exhaust on correct early exhaust it is mounted under the gearbox and is welded to downpipe and holds exhaust much more secure.
