Primer/welding question

Hi. I'm currently welding the floor to the toe board and wondered what people do between the layers in terms of rust protection? Do you use normal zinc primer and weld thru that or use specific weld-thru primer(such as u-pol)? Or do you weld bare steel and then wash or flood with thinned zinc between the gap, or maybe just use seam sealer and trust that? Not sure what to do as there are so many seams but I've heard zinc can cause splatter and dizziness if welded, but doing nothing and just leaving a rust trap seems insane. Cheers.

Use a zinc rich weld through primer and seam seal it afterwards. I use Bilthambers weld through primer which seems to work okay.
