Incorrect Vin number

Hi all,
I'm trying to get my Heritage certificate sorted, unfortunately the vin plate is missing, apart from the fe number the only other plate on the car is an oval one riveted on the bulkhead, that too after 50 odd years is unreadable.
I have the cars log book, and the vin number starts AH2s7. Heritage says this is a mistake by dvla, and I need to try a friendly car dealer to see if its on there trade system?

Any ideas......many thanks

Jay.

It should be A-A2S7 if its a standard 850 Austin Mini.

It's not at all uncommon for DVLA to have characters wrong on chassis and engine numbers due to misinterpretation of handwriting.

I agree with Andrew, all I'd do is get an info request for A-A2S7 from BMIHT by email, ie you can ask them for one crucial piece of info and see if that ties up with your car (costs about a fiver I think?). If the info they supply you matches up with your car (colour for example, or better to get the build date) then I'd order a full certificate. If the car details on the certificate also match your car and the FE number tallies up for build date then I'd ask DVLA to change the prefix.

Trying to get DVLA to change the prefix could be your biggest problem,I have returned mine at least 5 times with mistakes and they have replaced it still showing the same mistake so I finally gave up.Good advice all the same boys :)
