A short while later arrived in ORX707F, seemed a shame not to get some more recent photos of it
Though I was to busy talking to Elgin to take many

Nice photographs thanks for posting them. I see George Jennings studying Elgin's car in detail

Great photos, thanks for sharing, the ORX cars look amazing. The recently restored 777F was the car used for Paddy and Ron's last collaboration ( 68 Monte ) and I understand it retains the all important original body number, fantastic ! I am currently having talks with Ron to arrange a meeting in the very near future to re-unite him with the car in which he shared his first event with Paddy. Watch this space !
Regards
Dave

Good write up and photos of ORX 777F in Cooperworld this month in which the author categorises this car as a " top drawer " works car. From what I have read about the originality and completeness, and the photos I have seen, I have to agree that ORX 777F is towards the top of the list of works minis. A difficult list to imagine, but ( in my opinion ) the top must be a totally original, unrestored, un-messed, well preserved car, just as it left Abingdon. The bottom of the list ( but still a good list to be on ! ), would be a privately built car using no Abingdon parts but wearing a " discarded " works registration number and pretending to be the original car. Somewhere between these two minis all the other works minis / identities would fit in. There is a place for all these cars, and we all love to see them, people just want honesty about the cars so the " ill informed " know exactly what they are looking at.

Did any late works car such as above originally use the Lucas fog light as a reversing light? Thought they all went to the small light by then.

That rather depends what you mean by a "late works car" - RBL 450F had a Lucas 576 on the 1968 Acropolis.

Just a little anoraky thing, those name tags on the wings weren't white stickers like you usually see fitted to most restored works cars, they were actually made of Perspex with the white background and name underneath. I only know cos Mike Wood still has one of his (new) old ones!
