Hopefully a simple question, is there any variation between Mk1 left hand fuel tanks?

Is it a standard item or any difference between Cooper / non Cooper also any difference in production years.

Thank you!

There were some changes with Mk1 sedans. Most noteable is that early tanks before the end of 1964 had the bolt-on sending unit. After 1965 they used the tanks with the later sender which secures with the bayonet locking ring.

a revised sender unit and new metal fixing ring replaced the 6 screw type in and around feb/march 64.

A few more details to note :Early tanks had a drain tap. Elves and Hornets had a different neck to suit the shape of the rear wing. The first type of locking ring sender used the same gauge as the 6 screw type. That is, without voltage stabiliser. That sender is pretty rare.

Right thank you, I have seen examples of both types.

How long did they use the 1964> type for, into the Mk2 and on?

All the way into Mk3 production until the introduction of the 7.5 gallon tank I think which would have been 1977 or so.

Some export tanks (also RH) had other details - brackets - bolts - strap,s fitted, to insure a safer location.

Sweden is one such place.
