Steering racks

Hi, i have a mk1 shell (1966) which is currently being restored which i will be fitting 'dry' subframes to and adjustable suspension ride and geometry. I have ordered some brand new cooper s hub assemblies from minispares and was going to fit a brand new steering rack. Would it be o.k. to just fit a later steering rack? (the original steering column will be refitted) or does it have to be a mk1 rack.
I am a bit of a novice and this may seem quite straightforward to most of you so i am hoping someone can give me the answer? I kind of gather from Mikes question that i may need to make sure i have the later cooper s steering arms (i would imagine this is the only type made now).
I still have the mk1 steering rack from the car but being as most parts o the car are being replaced i thought it was safer to do so and with replacing the hub assemblies it may be necessary after reading Mikes post.
Any help greatly appreciated.
