Visitors to Killyleagh County Down on Sunday 2nd August will be given a fascinating glimpse of competition vehicles from yesteryear.
This is the 4th annual Killyleagh car and motorcycle event with all proceeds being donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.
This year’s event starts at 12.30 pm which is again sponsored by the Dufferin Arms. Organisers of this event wish to point out that numbers are restricted and entry must be made no later than Friday 31st July to guarantee admission to the street display. Vehicle age is restricted to pre 1985 unless agreed in advance.
There will be a static display of vehicles at the Dufferin Arms in Killyleagh’s High Street and a cavalcade from the town out towards the Quoile Downpatrick and back again at 3.30 pm.
Organisers estimate there will be around 100 vehicles comprising of competition cars, motorbikes, military vehicles and performance cars from the 60s, 70 and 80s. There will be 7 ex-works cars on display and Robert Dickson will be bringing over ORX 777F, ex-Derek Boyd Works Triumph TR8 and a works Audi. There will also be ex-works Vauxhall Chevettes and Opel Asconas. Denis Biggerstaff will have his ex-works Metro 6R4 on display and Ronnie White has been asked to bring his 4-wheel drive Mini Clubman. The ex-works Trevor Reeves rallycross Mini Metro will also be on show.
A number of classic racing motorbikes will be on view including the 350cc Aermacchi machine which the late Brian Steenson rode to win the 1968 / 1969 Irish championships.
At the Dufferin Arms, there will be live music by the O’Brien Family with the display of vehicles starting from 12.30 pm.
Admission to the festivities for exhibitors is £8.00 which includes tea and hot food. Everyone is welcome to this great show

Hopefuly will get out to this Alan, and will most likely be the rally Minis last run out for the foreseeable future (time for a major overhaul after a couple of seasons autotesting and lanes rallying)

Ian this will be your chance to see the Works Mini Cooper S ORX 777F at her first showing in Ireland. You will enjoy this show for sure.
Hope the weather is more kind to us this year.

Rich, I will post photographs of this event next Monday. Funny you mention pricing, the entry has only been made £8 this year, in the past years it has been £5 and 100% of the entry goes to the Alzheimer's Society. We feel that when people bring along their nice vehicles they should be treated well as without them it could not happen.

Can you put me down as an exhibitor - 1987 Austin Mini "Seven S" 1000 (the rally Mini). What time is ok to arrive - might be around 12.45 / 1 before I can get to Killyleagh.

Ian,
I am sorry but the 50 competition car places have been taken from last Sunday. There are 10/12 people on the reserve list at this moment. Please feel free to bring your rally Mini along by all means and on the day you may get a place in the main street display. You will appreciate people do drop out and normally the reserve cars get accommodated. I should also say that everyone is afforded the same welcome and hospitality whether in the main display or in the church car park or castle grounds.
Cars arrive up to 2 pm and the run starts at 3.30 pm.
Looking forward to seeing you down on Sunday
Alan

Thanks Alan
I don't mind where I get parked up. See you on Sunday. Be good to see 777F out. Will Elgin have 707F there?

Ian, you will enjoy what is lined-up this year. ORX 707F will be on show but Elgin is in England at some show?

Would love to be heading up to this, was keeping an eye on the updates on Facebook on the restoration of ORX777F, but unfortunately don't think I'd make it in time as have something else planned for Sunday morning. However I may have the opportunity to see ORX soon enough and get the chance to take a few photos of it without a crowd of people

Ian,
Firstly thank you for supporting our event today and secondly many thanks for sharing your excellent photographs on this forum which are superb. I hope everyone enjoys a view of the nice cars we had on display today. My photograph of Tom Lawther, Robert Dickson and Denis Biggerstaff captures three great motorsport men viewing the Works Triumph TR8 engine bay
