boot board brackets .

Post by STG95F »

When did the Cooper Boot board brackets change to be spot welded in ? . Or was it only MK2 that was spot welded in ?

Reason i ask i have just picked up a totally original 1966 car and it has riveted brackets , not 100% know the build as still waiting for heritage cert to arrive

Just trying to narrow down the build

thanks Ian

As I understand it only the two brackets on the rear bulkhead were spotwelded on the later cars. The photo is from a very original '66 car, the bracket still has the holes for the rivets though.

But are they the rear brackets or the front brackets?

There seemed to be a bit of to-ing and fro-ing with the welding/riveting of brackets. Some early Mk 2s had riveted brackets on the bulkhead.

Later brackets still had the holes for rivets even though they were spot welded to the shell.

Simon , I am almost 100% that the bulkhead brackets on mine are spot welded on . but will check tomorrow ? . As you can see the boot floor brackets are riveted on

My early MK2 all the brackets was spot welded on

I must admit i thought it was only the very early cooper/s that was riveted .See we live and learn all the time
