Could anyone tell me what i can use to remove powder coating from an alloy wheel.

Powder Coat (as you've probably already found) takes very well to Alloy parts.

I usually have my stuff soda blasted.

We always have it acid dipped at work. It's the least damaging process to the alloy.

The reason I know this works is that I was using it to remove some stubborn varnish from the soffit on my house and some fell on the powder coated gate underneath and it stripped it back to the metal in minutes.

I would not recommend trying to blast powder coating off anything with a dusty blasting medium...
As there probably will occur electrostatic discharging and the resulting sparks in a chamber filled with dry dust might lead to a little bit of blowoff...

I have had some parts dipped by a company in my region (however I had no powder coated parts dipped yet) and they told me that they do a lot of dipping on powder coated parts, because most of the blasting companies in the region refuse to blast powder coated parts because of the aforementioned reason...

However if dipping isn´t an option, there are also some paint stripping agents out there which do a great job of removing powder coatings....

I know it sounds like it wouldn't work, but try using standard paint stripper. I use Jasco brand paint stripper here in the States and it worked very well.

Just brush it on thick, wait twenty minutes and it begins to soften the powdercoat and it lifts off the surface in big rubbery pieces. Scrape it off with a metal brush.

It requires some elbow grease and time, but it works and it's cheap.
