fixing an A series mini block to an engine stand

Can anyone advise on this?

I have one of the cheap and cheery Clarke stands with a rotating cantilever arm which works great for building up Ford blocks where you have bell-housing end (ahem) or engine mounting to bolt onto.

However what is the best way to attach an A series block to such an device, or is there not one?

Cheers

Jon

There was a guy on ebay selling an adaptor for the clarke stand to take the A series. Usually mounts to the alternator bracket lugs

I've made my own but I think Guessworks do them

My previous post on this:

The seller isn't currently listing them but it may be worth asking.

I'm just in the porcess of making one up, similar in design to the Guessworks one (which he no longer produces). This will fit both A & A+ and bolt to the engine in 4 locations.

Once I've got it welded up and ensure it fits I might looking into getting more produced, or if you're handy with a welder selling kits of parts (the two main plates are jet cut to my drawings).

I'll do some photos once I've got it welded up.

Robin, does your adapter mount to the oil filter head studs? Is that enough to support the block well?

Thanks for all the comments,

Following these helpful replies I am fabricating a guess works type which picks up on the 4 holes (just discovered you need a couple of spacers behind the alternator pick up holes to bring the fixing face parallel).

A top tip for all the Clarke et al stand users - cut a slot on the male part of the tube with a slitting disc and weld a couple of lugs on, one with a captive nut - use a pcinh bolt and then there is no need for the multiple holes and it's much easier to swivel the assembly to wherever you want it.

Jono, if you give me a week or so I should be able to give you some dims for those spacers, and possibly some updated dims for the hole spacings too.
