MK3 Upper Window Seal Profile

I fitted the Minispares 'genuine' window channel seal to my 1275GT but when I tried to fit the glass it would not slide and simply jammed in place.
When I compared the profile with the original 1978 seals I found that the 'base' of the seal is a lot thicker.
I ordered a set of Phoenix (often recommended here) equivalents and they are much more like the originals.
The glass now fits and slides as it should.

So was the window glass in the later cars cut slightly smaller or are these 'original' seals made to the wrong profile?

Here's the 'original' (right) and Phoenix profiles (left) compared

Mini spares are good on most things and always helpful, but unfortunately I have had similar experience with seals, both rear window quarter light seals and boot seal have been impossible to use, I ended up using originals cleaned up, I did take a look at phoenix trim stand and they offer a range of seals that appear closer to original but have not used them yet. It's an area mini spares need to improve on even if they just drop current supplies and stock phoenix rubber trim.
It's not easy for them as they can only sell what people manufacture.
