They are all new old stock gauges....Brian as you know I restored all of the speedwell gauges as well as the speedo. The gauges were put in the Speedwell display you had and I now have because all of them were faulty. Not bad for a descendant of convicts out in Van Demin Land

My pleasure Brian. You guys know I love my speedwell
Will post my collection in another thread soon to further my knowledge on how many individual gauges and manufacturers Speedwell had. Maybe Vegard almond green and Nick Rogers can join in

..amazing to think that it musta been 99 I think when I last saw it along with the 2 others and of course the 2 970s types he never wanted to sell..so that was 16 years ago if my memory serves me .. I was only told about his stash by a mutual customer while talking minis.. I reckon when u have sorted the Hooper it well may be one of the best examples of a 60,s Cooper in existence.. in terms of pedigree and rarity of type... if only I had of been able to convince the ol giffer of flogging that stash back in the day !!!???......u musta made him an offer he couldn't understand ??!! lol... foxy52 Dennis...

Thank you Dennis i think the Hooper could be a bit special as there could not have been that many made the only ones i know or are the two Peter Sellers cars but they were both 997 coopers i was told they did a hatch back but never seen that unless anybody knows of any more,i did bring this subject up before but no one come back with any answers.also it took me about five years of talking on the phone to the guy i bought all my cars from and all the parts there was quite a few cars and loads of parts it took me nearly a year to collect it all cheers Bri.

Here you go Brian, a couple of photos of your car in the summer of '76. Tony (2nd owner) and I (4th owner) took it on a camping/road trip around northern France. A few adventures on the way (we recovered the exhaust system and re-installed it on the roadside) and it ran a bit warm, hence the grille being removed.
As you already know, it was my first car and to a university student kinda just another 13 year old Mini in '76 - I certainly did not fully appreciate the rarity of its 1071/Hooper spec at the time.
Hey, ho - how times change! Can't wait to see it when it's finished.
Peter
