Can anyone show me pictures of the machining needed to the casings when fitting a plate LSD please?
Would it just be a matter of getting the big die grinder and carbide cutter out and attacking it?

it depends on the case and the type of lsd

some of the old sailsburys need hours of grinding out, where as the modern plate type only need a tickle round the smaller end of the case and the bolts that hold the crownwheel on (so the bolts used can determine how much work is needed)

the modern quaiffes need hardly anything

I used to used a carbide cutter in a flexible drive, which took ages to do, last one I did I used my trusty black and decker powerfile and it took about ten minutes as there was no messing with clogged up cutters or bits of red hot alloy splattering all over - the powerefile just did its thing!
