Plastic steering column bush

Post by mellowyellow »

Hi all, just going to fit top steering column bush and was wondering which way round it goes. The cut outs on each end are different lengths so not sure why this is but must be for a reason. Also what should I use for lube, oil or greese, many thanks Tim

Fitted mine just before Blyton , I think it had a slight chamfer on one end , ie to go in first .I used a bit of white grease .changed the lower felt one at the same time , soaked it in oil then clamped it in the vise overnight ,this was the only way I could get it to fit

Thanks for your reply Nick. I,ll fit it that way round, suppose it makes sense chamfer first. Thankfully the felt one was replaced a couple of years ago and seems fine, certainly lasted longer than the upper one.thanks again, cheers Tim
