Rally seats (modern FIA approved)

Post by KennethDK »

Hi fellow Mini rally drivers

As my old Sparco seats are no longer FIA valid, I went and bought new ones. I was so sure they could fit in the car, but on arrival and test fit they are way to big. I should have paid more attention to shoulder size - so I now have two brand new FIA seats for sale :?

Question. What seats would fit inside a Mini with roll cage taken up some space as well. I need two seats and preferred seats are those with head restrains. I guess shoulder size maximum is about 570 mm (600 mm is out of the question).

Any help / experience is much appreciated.

Best regards

Kenneth

BTW. The seats I bought that don't fit is Beltenick

Is the cage a standard bolt in type or custom made (with the upright further back)? and do you have the rear side bins?

For our Britax replica we put in omp rs pt's (wide version), thats a very tight fit to the b pillar, thats with a safety devices cage, bolt in 6 point, no idea on FIA cert for these seats though.
On my track car with a custom weld in cage I'm a lot further back and lower and the seats are Corbeau Evo's, wide in carbon and super comfy !

Caution ;) may contain 8 Ports, Xe's and VTec's, I don't do standard!

I use these in all Minis. (5 so far)

They are a great fit, and can be bought from Minispares North.

BUT(T). If you are fat and need the extra wide version, you might need to juggle it towards the centre of the car especially if you're long legged as well.

The only picture I found of my seat was with a truly hansome man sitting in it. You get the idea.

Thanks! Very fast respond

Rich: Custom cage, bolt in - but more or less same build/position as SafeDevices cage. Problem is, that I have a bar between the main post in the cage (see picture) so I can't position the seats to far back.

Vegard: I should think I'm a standard size guy - with normal butt size
I think I have looked at every seat available - but did not come across the Cobra Pro-Fit. That seat is really narrow. Great!

Thanks for the help!

The only seats I can find for a rally car (outside of getting made to measure) are OMP RS / TRS as mentioned earlier....the issue is getting them in side by side...so may seats are so wide now
