This last week has been the longest and I've got Slowboy to thank!

After contacting Jon last week to enquire whether he knew of any early cars for sale, he came back with DPU 898B which could be a possibility..... DPU is an April 1964 built Austin Deluxe in Tweed Grey with Cumulus Grey trim and is really original - retaining original floors and front panel which is the vented type. Centre mount sun visors and crackle finish mirror are all present and correct and she has had very few owners who have taken her mileage up to 83,000. DPU has sat resting in the owners garage and hasn't turned a wheel since 2000. The brakes are binding and the clutch slave cylinder has had it but apart from that she just needs a bit of fettling and will be good to go! First trip out will be Blyton albeit on the back of the trailer but I'm pleased to say that for the first time in 8 years I've actually got a mini that i can get in and turn the key!

Trying to add photos but the file size is too big!!

Cheers Tim

Pretty sure an April '64 would have full skirt front panel Tim, but that's a cracking find, well done! Early Tweed Grey car too! Love it.

Very nice 8-) . I have a slightly later one in similar condition. I think you'll find that's a "Super Deluxe" rather than just a "Deluxe" too ;)

Had an afternoon of fettling today...brakes were binding big time so all of the wheels have been off and I've removed the million or so spiders behind them! :o

I really can't believe just how unmessed with DPU is. Its a cracking little car and i can't thank Jon enough! Its really ticked all of the boxes!

As usual Pete you're right about the front panel! On closer inspection it is a replacement one but luckily I've bought one from Swifty and so at some point DPU will have it fitted but there's no rush!

Nice one Tim. What are your plans?
Keeping her standard or adding a few performance / appearance tweeks?

Hi Ian, as the car is very original, she won't be 'Cooperised' although I will be running her with 4.5j 'S' wheels from VFF. I would like to add a set of twin H1 carbs with pancake filters and a set of BMC mud flaps. A Lucas WFT reverse lamp will complete the look I reckon without spoiling the car.

Cheers Nev! The old girl is not a Cooper but she is an absolute stunner with a bucket full of history! 8-) Any bits and bobs will be tasteful period items and safe to say that this car has found its last owner for a good many years!

Love your 970 / 1275 project....youll soon need a bigger garage!

A set of 5x10 Black and silver JAP wheels would fit beautifully with the twin leading drums 8-) .
