Wouldn't mind a set of these for a reasonable price .Theirs a set on ebay £500 ,but discription is poor so I dont want to risk it. Do they crack easy? and does this type of alloy Tig up ok?
I also like Dunlop D1s )these dont seem to make much money ,what's the reason?
And finally the elusive cosmic s , I presume these weren't made in huge numbers with the prices asked for them?

I have d1 wheels on my cooper, they are really for drum offset rather than s discs. Presume they are cheaper because of this and the fact replica wheels are available probably less than the price of a refurb. I do like them though.

D1's sold in huuuuuuge numbers in the 60's and 70's, hence why they're cheap as suggested. Exactons are similar, nicer, very rare but equally as cheap!

I have a set of D1s I redid years ago now. I ran them over Cooper S 7.5 and spaced drums with 145s no flares. I also have a set of early Cosmics that came off a 997 project. I should take some pictures and post them for sale. Steve (CTR)

D1,s were popular,good quality and sold well,thats why there are so many still about...Midland wheels make a nice copy but are not quite the same as there are a few subtle differences.. a bit like GB alloys I bought for my first Cooper in the 70,s... a cheaper copy of Miniltes but just not the same quality.... Cosmics seem rarer and as far as wheels go the original 60,s design like so many wheels of the period look better than their counterparts produced these days !!...foxy52

The Midland wheels supplies speedwell wheels are good copy's and made from much better materials and with modern techniques. So if you want to use your car they are a good option.

I bought a set and had them shot blasted and powder coated in a satin silver so they now look like those on Graham Hills almond green Cooper S

If you are looking for a set of original set Chris from midland wheels as got a set the one he used to make the copies .

That Austin Cooper S looks nice with them on , looks low on rear arches?
Notice the P700 Tri pod headlamps , not sure if these were ever fitted from new?.Ive got some nos ones in my loft .... might stick them on my S

Those midland copy speedwell wheels are excellent and in my opinion slaughtered the value of the original wheels . ..... Ken

Thought I would share a picture of my MWS Speedwell wheels post shot blasting and powdercoating. I have fitted 145 Dunlop Tyres from Vintage Tyres Supplies which were expensive but give a more classic look in my opinion.

Ha - I did laugh at the pic of the Fiesta yellow S with its Tripod headlamps and Austin Healey 3000 headlamp rings - thought I was being original with that one! Guess its all been done at some point!

Yours do look original ,and will last longer as the laquer can soon deteriorate on the reproduction ones
I had a look for my tripods ,couldn't find them but found some Lucas le.mans 700.wonder if anyone's ever fitted those.....Nick

I had Lucas Tripods on my Speedwell 1152.

BTW, The Midland Wheels Speedwells have been on back order for months now. I have been trying to get a set to go "on stock" & have not been able to get any anywhere.
