Wiper motor woes

This is on my 74 Clubman estate.I changed the dash and engine on it but did not change the wiring loom. With wiper motor connected and the switch flicked it blows the fuse straight away, with the plug disconnected the fuse stays intact and I checked the wiper motor on my GT and it works.Any idea why this is happening.I tried another working motor and the same happens. All feeds to the plug are working when the switch and ignition switch are flicked.

I bet you have the park feed wired incorrectly on the back of the switch, so its going straight to earth.
I know someone else who did this - you have to look at the wire colours and pin numbers on the back of those large toggle switches very carefully as there is two ways to wire them depending on whether you have a single speed or twin speed switch

You're spot on Rich, this is exactly what I did but not before I had every wiper motor in the place tried and belled out every wire and traced every wire. When I took the switch off to change the dash rail I marked them wrong and I could not see the wood for the trees and it was the last thing I checked.I should have approached it with a more focused plan as the only thing I messed with was the switch.
