Re: 1963 Ogle
an excellent choice of colour!
If you want to be a real anorak, there was a very long thread on the Autosport Nostalgia forum to get exactly the right shade of Jaguar flag blue metalic - not that I'm convinced there was only ever one!
looking forward to following progress - I've always liked an Ogle

Re: 1963 Ogle
I always change my mind on colour several times before cars get painter. Current plan for the Lotus is UDT Laystal green.
But then, maybe EE blue would be appropriate!

Re: 1963 Ogle
It's John Handley's Fletcher Ogle from Nurburgring 1966. I had a quick Google and found some more here....acespeed72 wrote: Pete whats the pic from?

Re: 1963 Ogle
Thanks Pete, did they race the Ogle in period ive been told that Ogle raced one but i havent seen evidence of that or pics. Its amazing how you can have your mind made up on a colour then that goes out of the window overnight. Its either Ecurie Ecosse blue or Dark Silver which was its original colour, i think either will look great with rosepetals

Re: 1963 Ogle
the photo of it at Silverstone on 1st Oct '66 has the Ogle front, but later it has the Fletcher.
I think the Guy that bought to rights (Mr Fletcher) bought the racer as well as the moulds so no doubt he modified the front of the racer, lifted the moulds from that, then made the subsequent cars with the modifed front. I think he anly made 2 or 3 cars though, did he not?

Re: 1963 Ogle
Yes the owner is called Ogle and I think from memory it had a Fletcher front added after the car was damaged ? Paul (who's got a Fletcher) knows more about it. Those Fletcher fronts are ugly as f*** though aren't they ?!!

Re: 1963 Ogle
The light treatment, with the cut outs in the front panel, is very like the Fiore Trident (originally developed for TVR, but later put into production with a Big Heally Chassis I think???)
Don't know if it's as bad as you say, but it certainly wasn't an improvement

Re: 1963 Ogle
no our body and floor havent been apart and floor only needs minor welding we think. Its down to its bare bones now so we can see how it is all fixed. We are going to work on weight and strength as we restore body which may mean we seperate ours as fibreglass body needs a little work. When they were new they painted the metal section black then attached body which they then coloured so we are going down the same route with ours
