Hi, I am rebuilding my early 3 synchro gear box & have replaced one of the needle rollers in the shaft with part number 88G396, this roller is
longer then the bearing removed meaning you can not refit the small ring clip, is this a modification or have I the wrong roller bearings.
Dave.

You will need to check this, but I believe that some of the laygears had internal
clips that stopped the bearings disappearing into the middle of the shaft, whilst
others had clips that stopped the bearings coming out of the end.
This is totally from memory, my 3 synchro days were long ago. It may be that
there are also different length bearings for each application.

Hi!
There were 3 types of the 3-syncro box:
1. The very first had fixed synco rings
2. "A" type had lay gear With lock rings both in front and at the rear of the needle roller bearings. Additionally a small distance piece fitted at the thin end behind the bearing and against the lock ring.
3. "B" type 3 syncro: Thin end: from inner: lock ring, distance piece and bearing. Thick end: from inner: Lock ring and the needle roller bearing.
Remember the plunger inside the first gear assembly.

Thanks for your response's, Gary at Minispares has told me to use the longer bearings & leave out the outer circlip.
