Hi, Ive recently emigrated to sunny Sydney from Derbyshire and I'm picking this project up on Saturday, its a 1968 Zetland built Australian Morris Mini Deluxe, the car is in good nick, apart from the boot floor/seat panel. I'm restoring the body and painting OE White with a Black roof, S discs, 5x10 Minilights and an 1149cc engine with a BP270 cam and ported 12G295 head breathing through a nice pair of 1.1/4" SU's. Ill keep you all up to date with progress.

Looks like a good base for a project!

If you can make it down to Wollongong the 19th of Jan there's a mini show with normally 50-60 cars. It might be good for some inspiration on Aussie made minis :)

Nice one. Aussie Deluxes are great little cars.

Sounds good Mac. Glad you're settled down under and not missing Derbyshire too much ! Welcome to MK 1 ownership, it's good to see you posting on this great forum.

All the best
Dave

Cheers Dave,

I'm missing Derbyshire, but not the weather. I used to enjoy either driving or cycling up to Middleton and having a chat and a cuppa with you and Tony.
I always wanted a MK1 and now Ive got one, External hinges and small rear lights are the way to go. There seems to be a great Mini scene here with proper cars.
Ive got an engine/box with a nice pair of twin SU's sorted and some wheels to refurb.

Mate! ;)

Your getting the hang of the Aussie thing already, a deluxe Mk1 with Aussie wind ups, Contessa 'mags' and a Barbie all in your first lot of pics!

That's 'S-tralian' right there mate!

Welcome!

I've just fitted a set of those same wheels, they are incredibly light aren't they.

I like your rudimentary fuel injection system, although it's going in the exhaust port, not the inlet! :D
