Hello guys,

I have a 1968 mk2 cooper

She is matching numbers with all the right plates,

-Body number on the front slam panel
-chassis plate
-commision plate
-fe plate etc..

How to read the commision plate? we can read 250S-19510A, obviously 250S is the cooper cooper S number as the body number welded on the front panel. but what is the 19510A? this is not the engine number, this not the chassis plate number, not the fe plate

Thank you

Salut enguerrand,

"Hello I would like to understand the commision plate, 250S is the cooper cooper S body number, bu the end of the commision plate number is not the chassis palte number, and not the engine number. On my registration document, is indicated austin and the end of the chassis plate

The commission number is the number given to the car as it was modified during production. So when a new part was introduced or modified the commission number changed.

There is a document here that explains all the plates on a Mini

My Mk2 Morris Mini Traveller, registered prior to August 1968, has that type of commission plate mounted on the right hand inner wing. In the picture below you can just see part of it near between the fresh air hose and the bonnet prop locating bracket.

The Commission Number is the sequential build number of a car.

The Mk 2 Cooper & S shared the same number sequence.
