850s had them, they also did a 4 sync 1128 with a magic wand on the back of it

Although the 1128 magic wand itself has its groove on the stop rather than on the RH side.

Guys I'm trying to see the pros and cons of changing from hydro elastic to dry suspension.
Would this efffect value for resale at a later stage ?
What's easier?
Would like to see your views on this.

Chris

Chris, the answers to your dry vs. wet questions depend largely
on why you want to do this and what you hope to achieve...
It is possible to change from wet to dry without changing the
subframes. It is only necessary to bend back the displacer
mounting lugs to allow the rubber springs to seat. It is a bit
awkward, but is do-able.
You would obviously need a set of shocks/dampers, and also
bear in mind that the geometry of the front top arms is slightly
different. (The wet arms give a slightly "harder" ratio compared
to the dry arms).
So far as re-sale is concerned, if a buyer is looking for an
original-spec un-molested example, the value to them will
be lower. If someone is looking for an example that gives
a slightly "sportier" ride, it may be worth more...

Thanks Ian I would like to leave the same wet system the car currently has. My only issue is I need to purchase or handmade a hydro fluid pump to pump up the suspension. Has anyone build one ? Maybe I can build one myself rather then spend 500 sterling on a pump
Thanks

Hi there,
We had quite a detailed thread on this recently. Lots of good links in it.
If you have a look on my build thread redshed the 69/68 mk2 you'll find some details of building up a wet system from fully empty.
I'll see if I can find the link.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the top arm bolt that goes through the suspension and subframe ? It doesn't seem to want to come out and I took off the plates on iether side.

The top arm bolt that passes through the subframe. Undo the two little bolts and the big nut and remove the plate in the engine bay. Take off the nut at the rear of the subbie.
Stick a Jemmy down the back and lever it forward. It comes out into the engine bay.

Chris,
"Top Tip" : Please use the "New Topic" button...
Everything we are discussing here is listed under the title of
"mini mk2 1969 magic wand?"
We've gone from "Gear Lever" to "Hydro" to "Top Arm"
... I'm getting a bit confused. There could be experts here
on top arms that won't see your latest request for help
because they are not interested in "magic wands"...
Anyhow, does this help?

This is page 2, most of the first page is about extracting it
using the "nuclear" option...
