Can anyone tell me what vehicles these calipers were used on,
including any relevant dates.
They are 7.5" disc supposedly 'S'/GT type, but the exact details
I don't know. These are Lockheed, most I have seen are "AP".

Thanks, didn't know that...ivor badger 2 wrote:AP = Automotive Products = Lockheed
Same questions, though:
What's the difference between the ones with "Lockheed" written
on them and the ones with "AP" written on them?
I've seen that people get excited about the master cylinders that
are metal and have "Lockheed" embossed on them. They are
considered more desirable. Is it the same with the calipers?

Re: Lockheed 3242-613 Calipers
lockhead ones will be 'correct period'
the 'ap' ones will be the modern ones that where reintroduced in the last 10 years
if they have 'msc' on them they will be the old minispares ones that where made before the reintroduction of the modern ap ones

Re: Lockheed 3242-613 Calipers
Thanks, Rich - That's the kind of information that I was after.
The ones I have are "period" and would be more attractive to
someone doing an original restoration.
Were there any other number varieties?

Re: Lockheed 3242-613 Calipers
The AP name (Automotive Products) existed "in period".
Brake parts were sold under the "Lockheed" name, and clutch parts under the "Borg and Beck" name.
I seem to remember seeing 1275 GT 10" calipers with AP on them, -that would be early/mid '70s (I don't remember them from then, but saw them later. -I'm not that old, honest...
)
As a bit of useless info: I think the calipers used on the disc-braked Triumph motorcycles in the '70s were 7" Cooper calipers (always hoped they were 'S' ones....). -They used to fit a little chrome cover over them.
These led to the current (they've been around since late '70s/early '80s) AP Racing alloy motorcycle caliper: http://www.apracing.com/products/motorc ... liper.aspx
Which I think use the Cooper pad (or is it the Cooper S one... -my brain is having problems keeping and retrieving memories...
)
-I know I should remember: I used to work there..... and even did design work on the alloy caliper.....
