sorry to have more questions  . The FIA wants me to prove that there has been an Arden head equipped 1300 Mini with carburettors and dry suspension running before 1970. May there be anyone to help?

Mike Garton will tell you. I think you can find his details in the Blue Book/CD

Thank you! I have no blue book in Germany but Mike Garton seems to be a FIA Technical Delegate and therefore I may have a possibility. :)

Not on International events because dry suspension was not homologated on the post 1.1.66. papers until 1.4.70.
That had not prevented the works team using it a few times of course.....

Hi,

the group 5 regulations from 68, 69 would have allowed a dry suspension. Nevertheless, as far as I learned, f.e. Jim Whitehouse used a special hydrolastic with seperated circuits in front and back.

Arden on the Gordon Spice car used a steam valve fitted on the joint between the rubber hydro unit hose and the steel front to rear pipe. Thus you could close off the corners and have the system as individual corners.

Is the 1970 date cut off at the end of 1969 or 1970?

These group 5 cars were running until the end of 69. The group 2 cars from 70 on needed a complete homologation. But maybe I found a group 5 in Germany using a dry suspension and an Arden head with Amals at the same time.
