try again due to lost posts.........

I am trying to set out the engine bay on my restoration with new heritage inner wings etc and need to know the location of the fuse box and regulator for a wet suspension set up on a mk2 'S'. the old wings were so badly fitted and bodged prior to buying the car in 1985 that i am reluctant to rely on the existing engine bay as a template.

it would be much appreciated if you could post a couple of shots of the bulkhead / inner wing area so I can take a look and set out the components accurately.

so, visited the car yesterday at the body shop and we were positioning the components in the engine bay to ensure all holes are cut before painting and we could not work out how the regulator is attached to the inner wing. when positioned as per several photographs we referenced, the fixings coincided with a recess in the inner wing.

having reviewed several more photos, it appears that there may be an infill piece welded over the recess for the regulator fixings......

any detailed close up photos of your mark 2 regulators or confirmation of our deduction welcome!

Hi Adam, I think that the regulator position depends on the year of car ,earlier with square type wiper motor are fitted like Mk1 as the inner wing is flat on later cars with rounded wiper motor the inner wing has a dimple to take wiper motor for LHDrive this is fitted with 2 screws with terminals face down, unlike the flat inner which the terminals face forward. I have a car with the rounded later motor , I hope this helps Peter

my car has the dimple in the inner wing, and this is why there is a problem. with the regulator in either position, the fixings coincide with the dimple and so you can't fix it. does your car have a plate welded over the dimple on the inside to take the fixings? my car is september 69 so quite late and therefore presumably fitted flat with the terminals face down, which helps with clearance of the heater duct too.

if you do not have a plate welded over the dimple, would love to know haw your regulator is fitted....

Ok , mine is july 69 the front screw is into a flat section and the other is sort of just in the dimple no plate, I belive the car is original unless somebody else out there knows better , later on today I will try to look at a mk 2 parts book and if there is a plate is will listed but knowing the cut backs Leyland made at this time its unlikely to have added bits on so screwed straight on would fit the bill Peter

is the screw in the dimple actually there? or is it held with one only? seems odd that the back of the unit is open, but as you say, extra costs were not likely at that time!

Adam, its held on with 2 screws, 1 hole on the flat ,other just a little way into the dimple if you PM your email I have pics
