Is it possible to use the piston and O ring from a verto clutch slave cylinder in a non vert clutch slave cylinder ?

The diameter of the cylinders seem to be the same, so it should be no problem to change the pistons.
Or is there something I have overseen?

Probably got standardised (made the same size) later on, wasn't sure on that so didn't like to comment.

they are both 7/8 now, I wonder if it was the metro verto one that was different bore (or possibly the allegro one, as that had a different hose size as well?)
the problem with swopping pistons is that the verto one is twice as long as the non verto - so if its fitted its going to restrict the start position of the arm, and would probably lead to the piston popping out the end of the cylinder at full stroke?
the ring seal is halfway up on a verto piston, so it may be that the seal would escape out the end?, where as the cup seal is at the very end on a early one.
