hi all, im ready to refit the fuel tank to my 1961 mk1 project. the top pipe on the tank is for a breather i guess, the bottom is for the fuel line? theres also a brass looking bung at the bottom with a small piece of angled tube coming from it.....whats that for?

This is what it ought to look like when it's not in the tank.
The one you have might have the pipe broken off, like what happend to mine. And the plug was abused trying to get it undone.

Anyone have tips for sealing off this drain plug? My brass pipe was mangled in my attempts to remove it, and instead of putting a new one in, I'd just like to seal the brass plug.
Cheers,
W

I have bunged a number of these up & never had any leaks. I have done it with both plastic metal & araldite, usually (but not always) screwing the remains of the bung back in afterwards. I have never suffered any ill consequences of this botch. Soldering it up would be better, but I have always been frightened of loud noises
The breather pipe goes from the spiggot on the top of the tank to the clips running down the side of the tank, these are quite obvious on the front wall of the boot.
