Steering rack gaiters

I'm pretty sure there was a discussion on here about the low quality steering rack gaiters available.
I'll be damned if I can find it on a search.
There's a guy new to the Mini world down the street from me and both gaiters are stuffed on his car.
Just wondering if there was any resolution on that thread and if there is a reliable source to purchase decent ones from. If I'm gonna help him out, I really don't enjoy doing it twice.....
Also, what's the correct lubricant and procedure for getting it in there?
