Trade my VW type 1 to this Clubman in april 2013!
Image

Start to build it up in a 1970s racing car style! First of all i renovate the brakes, and then assemble HiLo’s.
Image

Ordinary 1.5 NEG/adjustable camber & caster with Urethan bushes...
Image
Image

Catch this end pipe you use for VW Type 1, and make a vent in it.. Bolt on the original exhaust! I called it "RC40’s Little Sister"
(the engine is still original)
Image

I really come across a set of N.O.S Mamba Wheels 5x10" here in Sweden! :D
Image

First mock up with the HiLo’s & Mamba wheels! ;)
Image

Many of you might be wondering; Alan mann? My answer is; More to come! ;)

I suspect there's a repaint coming next?

This is a budget project, so no repaint (so far)! :)
And yes i know, the Vermillion colour on my Clubman is a little bit far away from the typical Alan Mann red colour! ;)

First of all the "GT" kind of stripe, but with Alan Mann!
Image

Then the bonnet with gold film!
Image

A ordinary stainless steel tray for less then 1£ on second hand
Image

A cut, and then you have a scoop! ;)
Image

Paint the scoop in broken white, and assemble a plastic/chrome trim!
Image

The rest of the decals, and start number.

I recon he must have a spare, Rich. Depends where me made the cut. :D

Perfect for one of your projects.

That's a proper bargain make over.

I made my own works panel for the rev counter and ignition key! I miss the oil pressure gauge in Clubmans, so put one in this panel to!
Image
Image
Image

Also a "oilpressure-telltale" (orange), ignition lamp (red)
Image

Painted it with black shrink-paint!
Image

A couple of rivets and finished! ;)

And so the choice of engine! Found a 998cc engine less cylinder head on the local junkyard. The block is in a very good condition, and don't need any rebore! :D
Image

Bought D-crown pistons, rods & a crankshaft (Cooper 998cc org.) all in very good condition! :D
Image

Cause the org. crankshaft from the engine was a way to far damaged!
Image

649 camshaft, Weber DCOE 40, ported & skimmed 12G295 cylinderhead,
Lightened; flywheel-clutchplate-rods (big ends) & wedged crankshaft.
Straight cut drop-gears, C/R 1300GT gearbox, 3,65:1, central oil pick-up & hardened diffpin!

How many HP do i aim? I say "55+ a couple" so the rest will be a surprise! ;)

A very similar spec to an engine build I'm planning over the winter with a 998 Cooper unit - I was thinking around 60 bhp myself so will be interesting to see.

I love the look of this project - some great little personal touches.

I have a Cooper 998cc with "649 & perfect jetting 40" 20 years ago!
And i love that tuning-recipe and rev character! ;)

After all those years, I’ll found a set of swedish made JP Wheels. JP is the wheel designer Jack Possnert who design and cast this aluminum wheel for Minis from the early to mid 1970s at Tunaverken AB in Eskilstuna-Sweden! The set I now is a proud owner of, is 7x10" and unfortunately painted in a horrific "late 1980s" yellow.. But the most horrific is that the original centre caps is gone a n d replaced with 100+ caps!
Image

The original style on the JP wheel outer rim is "semi-polished" (I don't know the translation from swedish).
And painted in matt black.
Image
It’s very hard to find pics on the original 10" JP Wheels on internet, so this is one i found for the moment

The centre caps is more hard to find, so I contact a Swedish VW/California Look guy. Because he made a blueprint a year ago of one JP cap, and order a batch of cap-set from a mechanic workshop who made them! (VW/Callook geeks in Sweden also like the 70s JP wheel, but in 5x14" dimension) My hope is he can make an repeat-order of them!

Re-make

This set of JP wheels is meant to be used on my Clubman for Track days, or Fast Road experience! ;)
Finally an old advertisement from Tunaverken AB. The MK1 is "my" model.. The MK4 in the advert is 6x12" and very very difficult to find these days. But, in my opinion, the one and only reason for me to go from 10" to 12" wheels on a Mini! ;)

Time for phase two this winter with my car, the little interior I had is out. I stripped the boot from fuel tank, rear lights etc.. The engine-bay from master cylinders, electric loom etc. From the interior side the gauges, heater vent&hoses etc! Innerlining and all screens is also stripped!
After one hour and some tatters of thinner!
Image

First (and only) round with primary colour
Image

Preparation for single Weber DCOE.. But I have to make it little more wide to the right! Why? Split Weber in the future! ;)
Image

Primary colour inside the boot!

1984-2014... is my anniversary; 30 years down the road with Mini

Only 13 years old 1984 on the Faroe Islands I was the passenger in a rusty Mini Clubman!
A crazy Dane guy drove me on those switchback roads! morning and evening every day for 2 weeks!
It was funny and I was stuck! ;)
