tyre pressures

Post by ronie »

I am taking my trackday Mini racing this weekend, on an event that takes place on a rough military airport runway and the weather will be warm.

The car sits on slightly worn Yoko 032's and MS rosepetals. It has been geo set up and corner weighted.

What kind of tyre pressures would you recommend I run?

Tyre pressures are always tricky!

Never ran those tyres before so not sure what to recommend, but I would suggest starting high because it's easier to take air out than putting it back in, unless you have a compressor with you!

Something around 27psi might be worth trying initially. Do a few laps so that you get some heat into the tyres and then come in for a quick check on pressures and adjust if needed. You want the pressures at 30 or 31 psi when hot!

On a track day last weekend using A032's I found 35psi gave the best results. Most of the chaps seemed to be running low-mid 30's on that tyre.
