Window catches dont line up

The pin on my window catches are a few mm inboard of the holes in the chrome strip so dont locate.

Even taking out the rather thick (1 or 2mm) plastic gasket the pins still dont quite locate. (The catch on the rear piece of sliding glass isnt as deep as the one fitted to the front piece of glass, so its not like the catches are fitted in the wrong place.)

Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

Had a similar problem when using an aftermarket runner which didn't sit under the chrome lip
and pushed the chrome out wide
