They were, Watch with Mother every lunchtime & as many conkers as i could carry every Autumn.

Glad i was born in 1948 , would have hated to have to watch that ( watch with mother ) , bill & ben much better , but we didn't have a telly , like Polarsilver say's poor times for our parent's , dad working in steel works and mam worked in the fields spud bashing and pea snatching to make ends meets, but happy times yes you could get pissed with ten bob in the 60s and have change to buy ten park drive

Just old enough to recall the tail end of the '60s as a nipper.... watching The Beatles do 'Hey Jude' on The David Frost Show, being allowed to stay up to watch Armstrong and Aldrin walking on the moon in fuzzy black & white, pounds shillings and pence, looking in the window of the local record shop seeing the brand new 'Abbey Road' LP cover, Minis absolutely everywhere and Mum singing along to 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' on the radio...

..agreed.. but not to mention ..The Woodentops ,Rag Tag and Bobtail ...50,s thru to the early 60,s....Jiffy along with Twizzle should get a shout !!!....lol..

"This children’s 'Watch with Mother' series (1960-63) featured real animals and related the adventures of two friends; Hammy (a hamster) and Roderick (a white mouse).
The fifteen minute episodes were filmed at double the normal speed to allow the camera to slow down the movements of the animals (who were probably in a state of constant fear and anxiety during filming!). Narration for each story was provided by Johnny Morris."
