I thought that S was worth buying. Looked about the most original car I’ve seen for a long time. I enquired about the heritage certificate, and apparently it didn’t have one. That was a show stopper to me, as you couldn’t even view the car with the current lockdown.

The Scottish grey S has featured on here before I think, it’s from a deceased estate, quite an original car restored I think in the 80s. The original registration was BRG 2B which had been transferred to the late owner’s BMW and couldn’t be transferred back sadly, hence the age related plate. All the cars had been auctioned previously but the Cooper S hadn’t made reserve. I do have some more photos I was sent a good while ago. Be interested to know what it made.

Having just watched the Mathewson’s video that car was presented and described very badly and consequently probably went cheap. Great original project that could be probably used and enjoyed as it is.

Plus commission.. so makes it around £35k all in.
Not sure if thats a good deal if you are thinking about restoring it. Already had a factory replacement engine, and I couldn’t make out the replaced head in the photographs.

Drive it as is complete with crap carpets. Like I said, good car in my opinion, but a bit pricey.

I have some sympathy as the body panels weren't worried about much back then in 92 when 'genuine' Rover ones were readily available Dave.

Makes we wonder about our little hobby as fitting Rover panels is arguably more appropriate than the lovely period stuff we get from non Rover suppliers???

Playing devil's advocate of course ;-)

Super Deluxe now up for nearly £20K, I'm sure same vendor had it up for £14K a few months back and maybe a year or 2 ago was a private sale at around £10-12K

This 998 cooper sold for £22.5 after being originally advertised on C&Cs for £32:
