They’re much better than they were let’s say that. Cheap project rarely ever come up now, if you’re in the market for a good original car I’d be looking at the U.S sales but they’re quickly becoming no cheaper an option, but some great original cars out there, many of which end up here. Just keep your eyes peeled as the odd good car does come up for sale but don’t expect original shells necessarily.

Unfinished 1959 project at Barons 10 November. Very low chassis number that was built August 1959. Estimate seems fair if the shell is solid as described.

Thanks I know I am up against it trying to get one.
I’ve been offered a 1071s for what I thought is a lot of money which I’ve looked at and it’s obviously sometime been reshelled into another mk1 shell and with many terrible previous repairs it really needs another shell again and ideally a 63 shell which ain’t gonna be easy to sort. Do you know if these heritage shells are any good ?
Thanks
Kevin
Would it work for you to find a 1963 shell from a lesser mini?

Another ex- Catalina rental fleet moke up for sale on BaT

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1983-austin-mini-moke

(although I would have thought '83 a bit late for Catalina, most of those were 60's cars)

It might not have part of the "fleet". There are a few privately owned mokes and sedans on
the island. Spencer Davis has a nice 1966 S he's owned since new there.

Time to reply this car has not been in any Auction other than CCA
The only thing that appears to be wrong is the rear window
The Mark 1 windows rusted very badly and in the 1970’s this car’s window was cut out and replaced with mark 2 after tracking down garage
At this time parts for mark 1 were unavailable
Otherwise it’s correct Mark 1
A dealer has offered to purchase and convert into a Cooper
He has some 30 minis in storage that he paid no more than £60 tops
He is making a fortune by supply faked up Minis and reckons 30 % in circulation are not true mini’s
Indeed a friend purchased a Cooper at Auction to find bad fake
So looks I might sell to this dealer

I absolutely loving 3284 KM, a cracking car but why the blue interior with green exterior?

Could this be referring to a previous thread that I can’t find now about a RARE MK1 mini won at auction that had a factory fitted MK2 rear window years before the MK2 came out! The buyer refused to go through with the sale .

Hmm seems strange that they say that MK1 parts were less available in the 70's, I would have thought that so soon after production had ended there would have been more stock available, look what's turned up since (not that I would have been looking for Mini parts back then unless they were Corgi  )

What he is saying that his MK1 is original and 30% of our cars are probably fakes !
