Cheers Mark.
You need to do what you feel is right for the forum, it's something that you have clearly put a lot of time and effort into.
As I said before our offer is always there and I'm happy to talk things through with you.
I don't think it's right for me divulge details of the tmf offer. However if Mark wants to make it public them that's fine with us.

I have to agree with Pad, I don't think either the MCR or TMF forums are suitable for merging the MK1 forum with (and I post on both), if it carries on then it needs the current memberships knowledge and to stay independent. It's a great pity it has come to this, at one point there weren't even any moderators lurking in the background, that all started with Bullonthebonnet (or whatever he was calling himself every time he re-appeared). I'm sure Mark has had plenty of offers of help and support, and I hope one day he can enjoy Mini's again.

I am one of the moderators (in a thankfully low key way)
I am happy to remain in this role, should any new owner / figurehead / comittee / (or particularly) dancing girl wish.
I must offer a work of caution - the dynamic of the forum WILL inevitably change as the main role passes from Mark to A.N.Other, and even more so if it is a committee. It is up to us ALL to ake the transition easy. The fact that as a moderator I have had to do so little is thanks to the majority on here.
let's all try to keep it that way through the period of change!

...Hear hear Al...!..its not a job for the faint hearted running a forum I would wager ?!..I for one hope it stays in existence because it is along with the MCR,s the best mini related forum avail to use.. but then again one has to be carefull not to diss other sites ?! that's not good at all.. we are all free to choose what sites we frequent after all !!...its all about pers choice..the info that is freely avail on this site is staggering !!!..... foxy52

I would have no idea how to run a forum nor do I know how much it costs but I am happy to donate something. Is £100 any use ? If this is insultingly low please let me know. If it's OK I will happily send that to whoever needs dosh to get this thing rolling.

The money is irrelevant, I am happy to hand over to someone or a group of someones who will continue to run the forum & site as it always has been.

Count me in for a contribution if it helps , it would be a shame to lose a valuable resource like this forum , also I would propose a 'zero' tolerance policy on any future incarnation of the forum , would a 'membership' type subscription work with 'members ' having some privileges or 'goodies' in return for a subscription ? anyway it looks like Mark has had enough and I personally would like to thank him for his vision and work in gathering an incredible collection of information on the mini tuning industry / competition events in the 60s and 70s -------- the Golden age !

This all sounds very promising. I will happily throw a few beer tokens into the nominated pot as a leaving gift!
I too would also like to 'buy' a membership, if it's decided that's how things will work from October onwards.

Dear Mark and Forum members.
I have been following this thread from day one and have taken a back seat to see how things turn out.... it's looking good so far.
I would have taken up Mark's original offer of buying the site and running it but had 2 reservations:
1, I felt i couldn't have done the job Mark has done half as good. and didn't want the site to go down hill like some other Forums!
2, I'm too bloody opinionated and would have upset most people in the first 3 months!
The reason this site is so successful is because it has Mark leading the way. In the early days when Mark was posting most days the forum was buzzing with information and laughter. Since Mark has stepped down the postings have plummeted and i'm sure i saw some tumble weed in the General Chat section the other day
I visit this site at least 4 times a day and is the first tab on my favourites list.... i'm sure i'm not the only one.
I remember many years ago i was trying to find out information about my Super, i emailed Mark who of course gave me vital information which helped no end.... i do hope the new voice of the site will have this level of knowledge because that's what makes this site the best.
I tip my hat to Mark for making such a difficult decision and i'm sure his Mini mojo will return one day......
Good luck to the new voices of the site but please please please could we keep to the MK1 format that Mark started so many years ago?! no Binis... no mobile phones for sale in the for sale section... maybe a different section for MK2 onwards...... but most importantly keep our passion for Minis alive
Oh yer.... if you need any help with the forum.... im busy...... joking, would be a privilege to help.
Regards to you all

George (and all)
Interesting comments and Im sure there wont be Binis and mobile phones , Porn, Readers wifes etc and all manner of crud as im sure the moderators will keep it clean of this
Mark has an amazing mini encyclopaedia in his head and im quite in agreement with you that it probably can not be replicated - So we have a choice - just let the site fade into non existance or do we all just chip in and try to carry on as best we can and I think I know most folks answer to that question.
Things have to change to survive but they dont have to change that much

As a frequent visitor but a very infrequent contributor to the forum, I would also be more than happy to contribute something on an annual basis to help cover costs etc.. As has been said many times before both the forum and website are valuable tools for early mini enthusiasts and shouldn't be lost.
Here's hoping the new group do as good a job as Mark has over the years... Good luck!
