Well done Matt,
For anyone who thinks that Hillclimbing can be a bit boring, you should have seen the incredible 2 day battle royal between Wil Ker driving my Blue Supercharged 999 & Matt Clarke in his amazing SMMC 1460.
What an INCREDIBLE Battle!
I'll let the results speak for themselves.

Well done too, to everyone else who took the time to make the 1st Yorks Motorsport Festival the success it sounds like it was.
Needless to say, I was very sorry not to be able to attend myself, but undoubtedly Wil did a MUCH better job of driving my car that I could ever have done.
See some of Wil's in car here:

Thanks Mark,
What a fantastic weekend! Was great to see your car out....it is a credit to you....and Wil was certainly pedalling it!
Well done to all on a particularly challenging course and well done to the organising team for getting this off the ground.
Roll on next year

We still go uphill on Irish hillclimbs
Well done to all concerned, looks like a great event and there were some really interesting cars from what I've seen on social media.

Mark’s car really does shift, peddled well and sounded great!

I am glad that the competitors seem by all accounts enjoyed the hillclimb!
just passing on some local gossip from a couple of Holmfirth long time residents
and Classic Car owners ,it appears sadly how close the competition came to disaster.
It appears that some of the local land owners that use the road that was closed for the
week before the event were repeatedly denied access on the week prior to the event with
signs be repeatedly removed and replaced etc, one threatened to drive a slurry spreader up
and down the closed roads, one wonders??? We know that it takes a fair bit of Council and
police agreement to get closed road events approved.
I take no pleasure or trying to upset any of you guys just passing this on! its a shame as we
need more Motorsport events oopNorth as they say,
Frank

Interesting. “Gossip” like that usually does turn out to be rubbish, usually from disgruntled people who have an axe to grind. One well known local Classic car bloke even threatened to report the event to MSUK to me on Facebook but when I looked into it it turns out to be local sour grapes and total double standards. You always get divisive people like this who have an agenda for whatever reason to bring an event down, it’s just the way it is. You can’t please everybody. The event was far from perfect, we all know that, it’s their first go but hats off to the guys for having the balls to put it on and put up with the aggro that inevitably will come with it. It’s the start of something really good I think. Shame not everybody’s behind it but it’s quite well known who the “gossip” is coming from.

I wonder how much the local economy gained financially from the event?

we had two nights in an apartment in Marsden, and went shopping for food and fuel at the Morrisons in Meltham.

Well I hope they can do it all again next year..sure it wasn't perfect, but most of the issues can be worked out. Only thing that could stop it is if one of the home owners on the actual course objects or requires too big of a bung
Here is some of the action from Saturday

Hopefully they’ll sort the commentary next year aswell. As entertaining as the commentary was in places this year they bizarrely didn’t actually mention the cars on track, who was driving them or how they were actually doing all weekend!

. Consequently the spectators could be heard grumbling that they didn’t have a clue who or what was driving past them, some fantastic cars there were too, like the ex Hawthorn Le Mans D Type, or genuine GT40 that many thought was a copy. Even if they’d lost the commentary notes they could have made new ones pretty easily. Or at very least got an entry list?! All easily fixed next time.

Jeebus! I have just wasted 30 minutes of my life watching the single WORST television program I have ever seen. If anyone thinks that atrocious virago promotes the YMF in any way at all, they are deluded. The only thing such a terrible "program" is likely to do is DISCOURAGE people from attending!
There are millions of youtube channels that show that home made tv can be great. This WAS NOT an example if such a program.

Missed the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival near Holmfirth this year? Don’t worry, come and join us from June 24-26 in 2022 for an even bigger and faster event for all the family.
The first of its kind in the region, we were proud to have been awarded the ‘We’re Good to Go’ COVID-19 industry standard and consumer mark by visit Britain. And a big thank you to Kirkless Council and Motorsport UK for giving us the green light. See you in 2022.

Yep the good news is it’s back next year as stated above. And I agree the video was pretty poor.
I should have something abit more competitive next year.
